ITAHARI, June 21: Dozens of houses have been inundated after a monsoon-fed stream locally called Tengra entered a human settlement in the Itahari Municipality of Sunsari district on Tuesday.
The Tengra stream caused havoc in the four wards of the municipality after the rivulet broke down the dam at Itahari-7 this morning.
Security personnel from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police have been deployed in the incident site.
The security personnel are trying hard to control the flood using sand-filled sacks. The rivulet has broke down the barrier up to 15 meters and has caused mayhem inundating dozens of houses.
“Ward No 7, 8, 9 and 10 have been affected by the flood. The locals of these wards have been displaced by the inundation,” Bodhnath Subedi, Chairman of Ekat Tole Development Committee, told Republica Online.
