KATHMANDU, June 26: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Minendra Rijal stated that labeling pro-monarchy activities as unconstitutional is inappropriate.
Speaking at the “Nagarik Frontline” on Wednesday, Rijal expressed his views stating, “They have the right to build majority support for their ideas, and that cannot be stopped. I don't like calling such activities unconstitutional.”

Rijal further clarified that pro-monarchy campaigns are not beyond the scope of constitutional amendment. Recalling what BP Koirala once said during the Panchayat-era court proceedings, Rijal emphasized that it is incorrect to say the constitution does not allow room for pro-monarchy views.
“As a member of BP Koirala’s party, I cannot agree with the notion that if someone wants to propose a constitutional amendment—even to that extent—they should be silenced or blocked. I do not agree that the constitution denies them this right,” he said.
