KATHMANDU, Oct 1: A house panel has directed the government to issue red corner notice against Rakesh Wadhwa, the promoter of now defunct Casino Nepal, and his wife Shalini.
The Social Justice and Human Rights Committee of the parliament on Friday directed the government to issue red corner notice against Rakesh and Shalini in cooperation with the Interpol for bringing the duo back to Nepal.
According to the committee, the Wadhwas owe Rs 452.2 million in salary and perks to 931 employees of the now defunct Casino Nepal. They also need to pay casino royalty of six years to the government.
The committee has also directed the government to recover all the dues from Wadhwas by arresting them.
The panel has also directed the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to table the Bill on Casino Operation in the parliament.
Speaking at the meeting, members of the committee also urged the government to take sufficient deposits from casino operations before issuing operating license to them.
