Issue of citizenship cards to 1 million Madhesis before CA polls: Yadav

By
Biratnagar, March 2: Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF), Nepal has argued that some one million Madhesi people who have been deprived of the Nepali citizenship certificates should be provided with the citizenship certificates before holding fresh election to the Constituent Assembly (CA).

He accused the major political parties of not paying any heed towards providing citizenship to the Madhesi people and claimed that the CA election could be held only after the Madhes people got the citizenship. [break]

Inaugurating the first town convention of MJF, Nepal, Biratnagar on Saturday, he said the proposal to form an election government under the leadership of incumbent Chief Justice Khilaraj Regmi was not constitutional as the Interim Constitution of Nepal has not mentioned such provision.

Former Minister Yadav reasoned that the Interim Constituent has included the concept of autonomous Madhes and urged the Madhes people to be confident that they could enjoy this right after the CA election.

He said the major political parties were responsible for prolonging political crisis and weakening security in the country.
