ISP companies to increase internet prices

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: The Internet Service Provider (ISP) companies have decided to increase the price of internet services following the increase in pole rents and price of fibers.

KATHMANDU, Sept 17: The Internet Service Provider (ISP) companies have decided to increase the price of internet services following the increase in pole rents and price of fibers. 


The ISP’s have prepared a plan to increase their prices by Rs 150 to Rs 300. The Internet Service Provider’s Association of Nepal (ISPAN) has decided to increase the price by Rs 300 per subscriber in urban areas and Rs 150 per subscriber in rural areas.

According to ISPN Chairman Sudhir Parajuli, a meeting of the ISP companies decided to increase the prices and is preparing to request the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) for approval. 


They have alleged that the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) had unilaterally increased the rent of the poles without ensuring any consultation and coordination of the ISPs.
