Islamic Cultural Center set up in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ, March 29: An Islamic Cultural Center was set up in Birgunj, district headquarters of Parsa, on Tuesday.

The Islamic cultural center will help promote social, economic and cultural aspects of Muslim community, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) Keshav Raj Ghimire, who inaugurated the center's newly constructed building at Bahuwari.The building of the Islamic Cultural Center has been constructed with support from Turkish donors. Half a dozen representatives of the Turkish donors were present during the inaugural function.

Nazrul Hussein, who chaired the inaugural function, said that the center aims to promote the values of Islam.

The Turkish representatives who spoke in the program expressed their displeasure at the recent unwanted activities in the name of Islam religion, saying that those are against the religion.

"Islam is a religion of peace and harmony," Samul Haque, a professor at Thakur Ram Multiple Campus, said. He further said that Islam firmly believes that one's speech should not hurt others' sentiments. However, it is sad to note such activities of late.
