BANEPA, July 22: An incessant rain-triggered landslide has buried a canal which has been used by farmers of Panauti municipality-11, Balthali of kavrepalanchowk to irrigate their land.
The contractor company had constructed the cemented canal with funding support (Rs 24.2 million) from Asian Development Bank and handed over it to the users' committee a month ago. However, the canal channelized from Ladku rivulet based in Bethanchowk rural municipality-5 has been on use for the past 37 years.
The canal has provided irrigation services to 1,772 ropani land of Balthali area. Farmers now are worrying with the burial of the canal in different places due to torrential rain.
