For that purpose, the Provincial Research and Training Center and Jan Lokpal Commission have been formed. But the provincial government which is supposed to maintain good governance in the province is itself mired deep in irregularities.
In fiscal year 2021/22, after the issue of corruption and irregularities in the projects run by various ministries of Madesh Province govt came to light, the Public Accounts Committee under the Madesh Provincial Assembly was instructed to look into the files of these projects.
The accounts committee reviewed the grants distributed under various titles from the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives, the construction of Covid Hospital, the files related to beautification of various ponds including Nagwa, Murali, Lakshmanwa, under the Chief minister cleanliness campaign, the expenses incurred for waste management in fiscal year 2021/22 and the construction of Bharat Lake in Bagmati Municipality of Sarlahi. Chairman Naresh Kumar Yadav of the accounts committee said that he was instructed to look into the files related to investment.
Earlier, the committee had asked for the file after receiving complaints about irregularities in the distribution of different materials including tractors to farmers and computers to cooperatives under the subsidy from the ministry. Yadav, chairman of the public accounts committee, said that after the ministry had given only incomplete files, they were asked to provide the complete certified files.
