KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) team has returned after visiting Nepal. A team led by Tidiane Kinda of the IMF was in Kathmandu from February 5 to 12 to discuss Nepal's economic development and aid programs.
Concluding the visit, Kinda said that the impact of recession is diminishing in Nepal and the external sector is strengthening due to low imports along with remittances and increasing tourism activity. Similarly, he said that the increase in internal revenue mobilization and the implementation of capital expenditure will ensure financial sustainability and help in economic growth.

He also mentioned that the upcoming investment conference will be an opportunity for Nepal to show its economic potential to the world. He said that Nepal can benefit fully from the investment conference by improving the investment environment in a sustainable way and timely reforms.
The IMF said that the schemes operated under the Fund Support Program are being evaluated and will be further evaluated during the fourth extended credit facility. Nepal received about Rs 7 billion for the third installment under the extended credit facility.
