Intrusion of privacy

Intrusion into private space is a pretty common occurrence. It can be witnessed when a school bully picks on someone, allegations of corruption dog a politician or newshounds are hot on the trail of a celebrity.

There is almost always a bully who singles out classmates whom he can intimidate. He resorts to brute force and a domineering presence to make their lives miserable. No one escapes his attention. Reporting to the principal only adds to the misery of the one who takes up the cudgel. So nothing can be done as far as punitive measures against the offender are concerned.

Allegations at the top of the hierarchy can turn nasty even though there is no evidence to support the claim. The CEO seeks cover within the four walls of his office, sticks to a routine and ventures out only in a private car with tinted windows. At the most the CEO may be forced to make a statement against a complaint, and the matter ends here. Protests, vocal or otherwise, die down in time.

Newshounds have a field day whenever a celebrity comes to the notice of the public in the aftermath of sizzling news. The tabloids spend huge for the right to publish juicy stories and grainy pictures. And they make a huge impact on their readers.

No one can escape a peek into his lifestyle by a third person even if he lives within barbed wires. There is no surefire guarantee against the prying eyes and the curiosity that engender sensational news. Often, such news and pictures reveals the dark side of the one at the center of attention.

The most one can do under these circumstances is let the matter run its course. When the heightened attention will die down is anyone´s guess, but by paying scant attention to the goings-on one can survive and even thrive from probing eyes.

If the situation goes out of control it´s an opportune moment for a token gesture in order to dispel unfounded doubts and reinforce the positive sides of the personality in question. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, taking charge allows for a much-needed respite.

Any kind of proactive contact with those responsible for the furor is the right thing to do. If something goes wrong then it can be ticked off as something of little concern. It brings relief for the one who undergoes an experience of a lifetime.
