Intra-country journalist exchange program starts

KATHMANDU, March 26: The Department of Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC), has initiated the first leg of this year's intra-country journalist exchange program from Thursday.

A team of 20 journalists from the Terai region, led by the Director General (DG) of the Department, Laxmibilas Koirala, today set out for Tanahu and Lamjung districts in this connection.


The objective of the program is to offer the journalists an exposure to various cultural and geographical aspects of the country.

The team will visit the rural settlements in Saptari district in the second leg of their journey, shared DG Koirala.

The tour is part of the Department's yearly program where the journalists working in various media outlets in one region are taken on an exposure visit to other media outlets in other region.

Under the program, the journalists working in Tarai region are taken for a tour to the presses in the Mountain region while the journalists from Mountain region get to visit the media houses in Tarai.

Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Minendra Rijal, garlanding the team of the tour-bound journalists, shared his belief that the visit would be fruitful to the journalists to exchange their experience with their counterparts.
