KATHMANDU, May 23: A Nepali man, previously issued a red notice by INTERPOL for alleged rape, has been arrested in Romania. The individual, identified as 24-year-old Gaurav Nepali from Khandadevi Rural Municipality, Ramechhap, was apprehended and subsequently extradited to Kathmandu with assistance from the INTERPOL National Central Bureau of Romania.
Nepali was wanted in connection with a rape case and had been on the run internationally. Following his departure from Nepal, the Interpol General Secretariat issued a red notice on April 24, 2023, at the request of NCB Kathmandu. This international alert was aimed at locating and detaining him.
Upon his return to Nepal, he was taken into custody by Police Circle Gaushala Kathmandu for further investigation and legal proceedings.
