BIRGUNJ, March 8: International Women’s Day is being celebrated by organizing various programs in Birgunj on Thursday.
Locals have staged a rally shouting slogans in favor of women such as ‘Stop Violation against Women’ and ‘Respect Women’ before converging into a corner meeting.
Similarly, various organizations including government and non government organizations have staged peace rallies this morning.
Mayor of Birgunj Municipality Bijaya Sarawagi, Deputy Mayor Shanti Karki, Chief District Officer of Parsa District Binod Prakash Singh, Chief of Maiti Nepal, Birgunj Sangeetpuri and government employees, students of Nursing Campus, Birgunj affiliated to Tribhuvan University and representatives of various organizations took part in the rally.
Speaking at the corner meeting, lawmaker Karima Begam, CDO Singh, Deputy Mayor Karki urged one and all to play their part to reduce violation against women in the society.
