KATHMANDU, May 25: The 'first Mayor Cup IKKF full contact International Karate competition' is being held on Monday. The tournament is being organised by Nepal International Kyokushin Karate Association.
Athletes from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan and host Nepal are competing in the event. A total of 200 athletes are taking part in the competition.
Karate team leaves for Japan
According to the event coordinator Ram Shrestha, India is fielding 65 athletes while eight are from Bangladesh, three from Pakistan and two from Afghanistan. The two-day event is being held in Thimi, Bhaktapur.
A total of seven weight categories including five for men and two for women are featured in the tournament.
