Timila Yami, sister-in-law of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, was appointed chairperson of KUKL after Joshi´s removal.
A meeting of the KUKL board of directors on December 5 had decided to remove Joshi from the post of chairman.
Stating that the decision to remove him was illegal, Joshi had filed a case at the Patan Appellate Court on December 7.
Joshi´s tenure was effective till mid-February, 2013. He was elected independently for the post for four years. Timila, who had been holding the post of KUKL board member since its establishment, was defeated in the election for the same post.
The government owns 30 percent shares of KUKL, Kathmandu Metropolitan City 30 percent, Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City 10 percent, and Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and Kirtipur Municipality 5 percent each. Similarly, the remaining 20 percent shares of KUKL are owned by various private organizations.
