A meeting of the committee chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal formally announced formation of an eight-member technical committee to carry out homework on integration, according to our correspondent Ghanashyam Ojha.
The committee comprises two members each from the three largest ruling parties and the main opposition Nepali Congress. Constituent Assembly members Dr Indrajit Rai and Barsha Man Pun represent the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), CA member and former Nepal Army General Gopal Singh Bohara and Dipak Prakash Bhatta respectively represent CPN-UML and former senior police officer Sadananda Kurmi and Ramananda Mishral represent Madhesi Peoplee’s Rights Forum (MPRF) in the Technical Committee.
Nepali Congress has sent former Leutenant General of Nepal Army Balananda Sharma and former ambassador Shambhu Ram Simkhada in the committee.
“The technical committee will start its work immediately and visit all [28] cantonment sites first to collect data about the combatants,” said Mohammad Habibullah, an AISC member who represents MPRF. “Then it will decide the criteria for integration.”
Friday’s meeting of the special committee also finalized the terms of reference for the Technical Committee.
