President Trump decided to replace US National Security Adviser HR McMaster with John Bolton, a hawk who has backed attacking North Korea and Iran. He announced the change in a tweet, thanking McMaster for doing “an outstanding job”. The move comes hot on the heels of Rex Tillerson’s firing. The relationship between Trump and Tillerson was turbulent at times, involving frequent disagreements and policy clashes. Tillerson was even reported to have called Trump a “f**king moron” last summer, a report he did not deny.
