If our ideas for indoors fitness routines published last week got you started on your exercise regime this winter, then The Week is here to help you with more.

Indoor fitness can be as good as outdoor ones if you follow a particular routine, whether you prefer a regime that constitutes various types of exercises for your 30-60 minutes of workout or only one form of exercise throughout the allotted workout time.[break]

Though indoor fitness can help you avoid cold weather, it can also get monotonous and boring. If it’s hard for you to follow the routine everyday, we recommend that you find a company. And if it’s hard to find “fitness buddy” who agrees to workout indoors with you, then it’s time to brace technology.

Television and Internet can be your friend and a personal trainer at the same time. There are videos produced by professionals which are aired on television channels, or can be bought in DVDs, or even better, can be downloaded free from the Internet. And if you’re a YouTube follower, there are numerous channels that serve you just right for any kind of fitness regime.

If you make sure that you follow the instructions carefully and properly, starting with the beginner’s guide and not attempting those exercises that require professional assistance, technology is all good to go for you!

Kickboxing

Kickboxing targets your arms, shoulders, abs, thighs, and butts in one workout and is also considered an amazing stress-release exercise. The modified karate with full-contact kicks and punches that are banned in karate, kickboxing is said to burn 500 calories an hour. There are various videos uploaded on the web that helps you master this killer cardio workout. Kickboxing combines elements of boxing, martial arts, and aerobics to provide overall physical conditioning and toning. It’s, however, wise to check out the videos or websites a night before you attempt on the exercise.

Zumba

It’s been almost two years since Zumba, a Colombian dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez during the 1990s, has been a fitness hip in Nepal, too. Zumba.com calls out to “Ditch the workout and join the party.” The website also informs about Zumba classes that are conducted in different health clubs in Nepal. But there are also other free videos that can be streamed through many other websites and YouTube channels.

Beachbody videos

The American multinational corporation, Beachbody, sells fitness, weight loss, and muscle building home-exercise DVDs. The most popular home video produced by this company is P90X which uses cross-training such as weight training, martial arts, yoga and calisthenics and periodization. Beachbody also features Insanity workout and Hip Hop Abs videos. Insanity is a workout regimen similar to P90X while Hip Hop Abs is a workout/dance routine involving lightweight hip-hop dance moves. Look out for the free downloadable videos on the web and choose the workout session that suits you the best!

Yoga

Practiced for more than 5,000 years, Yoga has evolved a lot from its Indian origins to more westernized physical poses. It can also be easily accessed like other video workout sessions as you can watch religious gurus perform it on Indian televisions. However, if you want to go with some improvised versions, you can always check out the web, which offers plenty of instructive websites and videos. In addition to toning your body, it’s said to boost your confidence and keep you calm.

Pilates

This form of exercise is said to help build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. These exercises done on the mat with different props such as exercise ball, magic circle, and stretch bands can be modified in the range of difficulty, from beginning to advanced stages. You can check out the videos and get started.
