KATHMANDU, Oct 3: On an invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee will arrive on a three-day state visit to Nepal on November 2.
“The date for the visit by the Indian President has been fixed, Public Relations and Press Coordinator to Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat, Yek Raj Pathak told Republica Online, “He will visit Nepal from November 2-4.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bimalendra Nidhi, during his recent India visit, had handed over the invitation by President Bhandari to the Indian President.
Earlier in May, planned India visit by President Bhandari was postponed after the previous government decided not to endorse the president’s proposed visit to the southern neighbor to express its displeasure toward India’s alleged involvement in activities aimed to unseat it.
The Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government has been preparing for Nepal visit by the presidents of both India and China.
The visit by the Indian President has not been confirmed now, but the visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping is still uncertain.
