Indian grant for diabetic care program

KATHMANDU: The Indian government has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 50 million for diabetic care program.



According to a press statement issued by Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Friday between the Embassy and Gandhi Global family Nepal (GGFN) on providing the grant assistance for screening and treatment of Diabetes Mellitus under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Program.[break]



 GGFN, an apex voluntary organization, working under the auspices of Nepal-India Human Development Friendship Association, was established with the objective of providing health and education services.



India will provide 100% financial assistance to GGFN for conducting 30,800 diabetic basic lab tests and for providing free medicine to 10,450 diabetic patients for six months and free advance diabetic diagnostic test to 4,400 diabetic patients through health camps in various districts of Nepal.
