Replying to questions of media persons after a public program on Thursday, the Indian envoy said that he was optimistic that Nepal Army would get "green light" to proceed with the integration process. [break]
"I think the deadlock has been resolved. The situation today is apparently better than what it was some four weeks ago. So I am very confident that there will be a breakthrough in both the processes [of constitution-writing] and integration which, in essence, commences with the return of those former combatants in the cantonments who have taken voluntary retirement," the Indian envoy said when asked how India, as an immediate neighbor, has taken the deadlock over the peace process and constitution-writing.
He further said: "Very soon in a day or two, army will get green light to proceed with the integration [of Maoist combatants]."
Starting integration is a logical step to be taken by the government after the completion of the voluntary retirement of Maoist combatants. The envoy said that there was no alternative to a positive conclusion of the peace process and constitution-writing.
When asked why India has unusually delayed in endorsing the agreemo of Nepal´s ambassador designate to India Ram Karki, the ambassador said: "Our embassy has been expediting the process. That is all for now."
He was further asked whether Karki´s agreemo would be accepted. The ambassador, who earlier released a book entitled Nepal-India Relation: A Journalists´ Perspective, said, "How can I say now?"
Let’s live in peace and embrace diversity
