Bansal, who is heading a 10-member delegation comprising government secretaries, expressed India’s wish to hold dialogues with Nepal on finding a long-term solution to problems caused due to flooding by Koshi river and to strengthen regular monitoring of all repair and maintenance of spurs along the river.
“The delegation came to Nepal for the monitoring of Koshi site. Minister Bansal has accorded high priority to supervision and monitoring of all repair work along the Koshi embankment,” Rajan Bhattarai, the PM’s foreign affairs advisor said.

Bhattarai also said that the prime minister has expressed serious concerns over the repair and maintenance work at the Koshi river. The flooding caused by Koshi last year left thousands Nepali and Indian people homeless.
In addition, the two sides also discussed preserving the endangered species in the Koshi Tappu region. “India has proposed greater monitoring to preserve the endangered species in this region,” Bhattarai added.
The load-shedding problem faced by both the countries also figured during the talks. For this, both sides have agreed for capacity of the transmission line at Birgunj, Butwal and Biratnagar for import of power from India. “The two sides also discussed on enhancing the capacity of the transmission line at three points,” Bhattarai said.
