The project will be implemented in three phases. Under Phase I, 19 roads totaling 605 kilometers will be built and the work is expected to start by December this year.

The role and responsibility of the government for this India-funded project will be to provide land free from all encumbrances to the contractor and ensure utility relocations.

In a bid to facilitate the construction works, the government has appointed a project coordinator and set up four project site offices at Nepalgunj, Hetauda, Janakpur and Itahari.
