India eager to work with new government in Nepal: MEA

KATHMANDU, Dec 29: India has expressed eagerness to work together with the newly-formed government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Nepal.


Responding to a query of journalists during a regular press briefing in New Delhi, Spokesperson at Indian External Affairs Ministry Arindam Bagchi said that India is willing to work together with the Dahal-led government.

Spokesperson Bagchi said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended congratulations to Dahal shortly after he was appointed as new prime minister of Nepal. In response, Prime Minister Dahal had expressed his desire to further deepen the relations between Nepal and India. “There was an exchange of ideas as to how we can further strengthen our unique cultural relations and our bilateral ties,” he said.


Bagchi said that India is eager to work together with the new government in Nepal. “We have unique bilateral relations. We look forward to working together to further strengthen this relation,” he said. “New government has been formed in Nepal after the election. We are eager to work together with the new government.”


Indian Prime Minister Modi had congratulated Prime Minister Dahal shortly after his appointment as new prime minister on Sunday.
