Jerry Lalrinzuala scored the all important goal for visiting side in the 18th minute silencing noisy home supporters. Lalrinzuala made a stunning 20-yard shot from the left side towards far post in the match marred by downpour.[break]
It was the first title of India in the tournament which lost 2-1 to Pakistan in the final of first edition. Nepal had finished third on the occasion.
