They suggested that the local municipal bodies should be delineated on the basis of population and geography, NC Kaski District President Krishna KC told Republica Online.
Most of the district presidents were of the opinion that the current Ilakas (created for the DDC election) of the District Development Committees should be converted into municipal bodies.
There are currently 927 Ilakas in the District Development Committee.
After hearing the suggestion of the district presidents, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba said that he would come up with the party’s official decision after holding party’s Parliamentary and Central Committee meetings.
