KATHMANDU, July 19: Dreams of thousands of people of Helambu and Melamchi have been shattered by the devastating landslides and floods that occurred on July 15.
Houses have been swept away. Roads and bridges have been damaged beyond repair. People living near river banks have been displaced. Cultivable lands have turned into sandbanks. People are in despair.
The worst of all is the impending health emergency. The area is totally disconnected from the rest of the world. People are deprived of food supplies and medicines.
