KATHMANDU, July 21: To commemorate the 34th Memorial Day of the Nepali Congress founder BP Koirala, tree saplings have been planted in the area of Sanepa in the Capital today.
People from various walks of life including NC leaders including Gopal Man Shrestha, Dean of the Institute of Forestry Prof. Dr Chiranjibi Prasad Upadhyaya, President of the Nepal Foresters' Association Shekhar Yadav, Vice President of the Federation of Community Forest Users Nepal (FECOFUN) Bhim Khadka and Chairman of the Nepal Foresters' Association, Revolutionary Damodar Sharma participated in the tree plantation.
On the occasion, Shrestha cautioned that the country would be devoid of the constitution and all achievements made so far would be lost if the constitutional document is not implemented properly within 18 months.
He also viewed that an ideal leader like BP is needed at this point of time when the country lacks political stability and is in a state of disorder.
Likewise, Upadhyaya said that awareness of tree plantation and conservation of forest should be created as forests are instrumental in controlling natural disasters like landslides, floods and soil erosion.
Similarly, Yadav, Khadka and Sharma made it a point to conserve forest and plant trees to curb natural disasters like floods and landslips. RSS
