Import of Chinese goods halted till local level election

RASUWA, May 11: The import of Chinese goods through Rasuwagadhi has been suspended till the upcoming local level election on May 13.


According to Chief District Officer Nawaraj Jaisi, the import of goods has been stopped till May 13 as per the agreement reached between the officials of the two neighboring countries.

According to the Border Security Post, readymade and materials related to hydro were imported through 13 big containers on Tuesday. It is said that the import of goods has been stopped as per the regular procedure of stopping the movement through the international border 72 hours before the polling time.


Since the COVID-19 pandemic, only Chinese drivers have been moving at Rasuwagadhi which was closed to the general public. Similarly, according to Bharat Adhikari, Information Officer at the Rasuwagadhi Customs Office, Timure, the process of customs clearance has been postponed for a few days as most of the staffers have been mobilized for the election.
