The global youth march is to let the world know that climate change is a moral issue and not a political or financial one.
As part of the global movement spearheaded by youth, the event in Kathmandu is organized by the A-level students of Chelsea International Academy with the support from Yes Club, Nepalese Youth For Climate Action (NYCA), One Degree Initiative Nepal and Innovation For Action Awareness and Activism (IF3A).
“We always have been blaming the top policy makers but we also have some responsibility to take the initiative and do something to protect out planet,” said Sandesh Ghimire, an A-level student at Chelsea International Academy and also one of the organizers.

The theme iMatter, according to Ghimire, stands for “I, as an individual, matters, and so together we can make significant contribution to fight against climate change.”
Ghimire further said that the politicians here in Nepal are just busying themselves with the constitution writing so the people are suffering for no reason. “It’s high time that we take a stand.”
The British Council International Climate Champions duo of 2010, Saunak Bhatta and Abhishek Shrestha, are also participating and helping the organizers with the event.
“Picking up garbage on our way to rally, bubblegum protest and signing petition by the participants are also part of the event,” he added.
“Yes Club approached us so we took this initiative to organize this event. Many colleges are participating and we have expected over thousand participants,” informed Shrijan Amatya, also one of the organizers of the event.
iMatter was created to empower and organize the youth, and keep them fully informed about the issue of global climate change.
The movement transcends regional, ideological, and ethnic boundaries. The marches are now taking place in 25 countries all over the world.
The march in Kathmandu is open to all and starts from 2pm and ends at 7 pm.
