Traders importing boots from China, Singapore and Thailand say that customers will have to spend a little more this winter as the price of boots has risen by up to 15 percent.[break]
Different stores have introduced boots ranging from Rs 1,100 for non-branded ones to Rs 12,000 for high-end designer brands such as Liangdian, Guess, Gucci, Steve Madden, BCBG Girls, Oscar, Ash, Blay, Zara and Dior among many others.
“Despite the increase in price, demand for boots is very high in the market as a perfect pair of boots not only provides warmth but also adds charm to one´s personality,” said Samjhana Lama, sales executive of Dot Fashion Wear at Kathmandu Mall.
Dots Fashion Wear has a wide collection of boots ranging from Rs 1,100 to Rs 3,200.
Boots are available in the market in different designs like flat, medium heels, high pencil heels, wedge heels in half length, knee length and above knee length, ultra tall boots etc.
“As boots can be paired up with formal wears, jeans and even party wears, boots have been popular among all age groups so the demand for boots is increasing and the price has gone up,” said Kamalesh Agrawal, proprietor of Belle, a multi-designer shoe store. Belle houses exclusive Korean boots priced between Rs 1,500 and Rs 4,500.

This year stores around the valley are flooded with converse boots, classical black boots, boots with faux fur, long boots with zippers, buttons and buckles, round flat shaped boots, among others. “This year round shaped flat boots and converse boots are popular among the teenagers,” informed Lama.
With the increase in demand, stores around the valley are selling around three to four pairs of boots a day. Lama said that during winter when demand for boots increases, regular transaction increases by almost 20 percent.
