KATHMANDU, July 9: Amid widespread criticisms against his plan, Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) has said that he will build the statue of Yambuddha from his own salary.

On Saturday, Mayor Shah said that he would build the statue of Yama Buddha from his own salary. "I make a statue of Yama Buddha from my salary," Balen wrote on social networking site Facebook.

Recently, Shah had announced plans to build a statue of Yama Buddha in Kathmandu. As soon as he announced, there was widespread protest against Mayor Shah. Yama Buddha aka Anil Adhikari was a famous Nepali rapper.

He became famous in the Nepali hip-hop world with his song "Sathi". In particular, he wrote many songs against the perversion of society and was famous for his expressions of writing. He committed suicide on January 14, 2017 in London.
