Awashis Ojha, senior brand manager of Laxmi Hyundai -- the authorized distributor of Hyundai in Nepal, said the two models will be launched simultaneously next month. According to Ojha, Elite i20 will be price priced between Rs 2.7 million to Rs 3.3 million, while the i20 Active will be available in price range of Rs 3.7 million to Rs 4.2 million.According to the company, the new Elite i20 has both petrol and diesel variants. "The 89bhp 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel and the 81bhp 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol engines mated to a five-speed manual transmission have been retained from the i20. Both petrol and diesel engines are available in four trims -- Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta," officials of Laxmi Hyundai said.
The Elite i20 has automatic headlamps, auto folding wing mirrors, rear parking sensors, central locking system, tubeless tires, clutch lock and dual horn system, among other features.
According to Ojha, the Elite i20 will compete with Volkswagen Polo and Fiat Punto Evo, among others, in the premium hatchback segment.
Similarly, i20 Activa crossover also has petrol variant. While the petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre, Kappa, dual VTVT engine capable to deliver 83PS power and 114 Nm torque, the diesel variant gets its power from a 1.4-litre, U2, CRDi engine that is able to belt out 90 PS and 220 Nm of max torque. The diesel variant has six-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol variant has 5-speed manual gearbox.
The i20 Active also features Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), front fog lamps, automatic headlamps, central locking system, smart pedal, clutch locking system and inside review mirror, among others. The crossover's exterior comes with black front grille with chrome rear roof spoiler and roof rails. Similarly, the vehicle has other features like aluminum pedals, front passenger seat back pocket, leather gear knob and sunglass holder, among others.
The crossover is expected to compete with Toyota Etios Cross and Fiat Aventura.
"The i20 Active crossover is our first vehicle in the segment in Nepal," Ojha, said, adding, "We hope the i20 Active will do well in Nepal."
