Human trafficker deported from Macau

KATHMANDU, August 31: A man, who had been on the Interpol red notice on charges of human trafficking, has been arrested from Macau. Narayan Prasad Adhikari, 38, of Dordi Rural Municipality-1, in Lamjung was sent to Kathmandu on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, August 31: A man, who had been on the Interpol red notice on charges of human trafficking, has been arrested from Macau. Narayan Prasad Adhikari, 38, of Dordi Rural Municipality-1, in Lamjung was sent to Kathmandu on Tuesday.


The red notice had been issued by the Interpol General Secretariat at the request of the Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police. He was arrested and brought to Nepal in coordination with Interpol in Macau.

He was taken into custody by the Interpol branch team of Nepal police from the Tribhuvan International Airport today and sent to the Bureau for further action.


Adhikari has been charged with reaching a Nepali national to a refugee camp in Libya on the pretext of employment in a Canadian company. While still in the camp, the victim was rescued in coordination with the peacekeeping mission of the Nepali Army in Libya, the Nepali Embassy in Egypt and the International Organization of Migration.
