HR is not the issue of big donors only: PM

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday said the human rights is not the way how big donors and big countries define.



Speaking at a program, organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the occasion of the 60th International Human Rights Day, Prime Minister Dahal, said, “Human rights is the issue of big donors only and it is also not the issue of big countries imposing on small ones.”



Dahal said a true human rights is guaranteed only when the people’s own system of the government is established.



Stating that the government is much committed to protect and promote human rights, he said, “The issue of human rights should be observed through the crimes committed during the decade-long armed conflict,” he said.



On the occasion, NHRC Chief Kedar Nath Upadhyaya said the human rights situation is deteriorating. He also charged that certain political parties have been encouraging their sister organizations which are taking the law in their hands.
