KATHMANDU, April 5: The Election Commission (EC) has determined the maximum limit of expenditure that candidates can make for the by-election to members of the House of Representatives slated for Sunday April 23.

The EC has set a limit of Rs 2.9 million for Bara-2 and Chitwan-2 and for Tanahun-1, Rs 3.1 million according to the statement issues by by Shaligram Sharma Paudel, the spokesperson for the Commission


The EC has also asked the candidates to spend on the election within the limits of the expenses specified by the commission and to submit the details of the election expenses through the candidate or the candidate's representative to the relevant district election office within 35 days from the date of the announcement of the election results in accordance with Subsection (4) of Section 72 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074.
