Taking part in discussion over the bills on Wednesday, UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Mangal BK, Nepali Congress lawmaker Purna Bahadur Khadka and CPN-UML lawmaker Yam Lal Kandel said passage of the bills had materialized the 15-year old dream of people in mid-western region to establish a university in Surkhet.

Meanwhile, Minister for Finance Surendra Pandey presented details of the agreements reached with donors between July16, 2009 to April13, 2010.

Lawmakers demand CA term extension

Lawmakers representing various political parties have demanded extension of the CA term.

UML lawmaker Brinda Pandey said parties should be able to forge consensus on extension of the CA term so as to make people beleive that CA would ultimately promulgate the new constitution.

NC lawmaker Bina Poudel said the CA term should be extended as it is not possible to promulgate new constitution on time.

Meanwhile, Maoist lawmakers said the current government should step down as it has proved to be stumbling block to the constitution writing and peace process. Buddha Ratna Manandhar of Nepa Rasriya Party argued there is no point in extending CA term unless the current government is not dissolved .
