KATHMANDU, May 4: The meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, scheduled for 3 pm on Thursday, has been postponed till Friday.
Issuing a press statement, General Secretary of the Parliament-Secretariat, Manohar Prasad Bhattarai stated that the Speaker has postponed the meeting of Thursday and has called the meeting on May 5, Friday at 10 am, citing special reason.
The meeting of House was likely to fix the date for discussion on the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki. The Parliamentary Regulations has a mandatory provision to fix the date for discussion on any impeachment motion within seven days of the registration of the motion.
Talking to media persons, while emerging out of the House, the main opposition CPN-UML vice-chairperson Bam Dev Gautam said that the House meeting was deferred due to the lack of the consensus as the government wanted to table the impeachment motion whereas the UML was supposed to defy it.
