KATHMANDU, July 9: The meeting of the House of Representatives has been deferred for Wednesday following the obstruction of Nepali Congress and Rashtriya Janata Party-Nepal lawmakers today afternoon.

In a notice, Parliament Secretariat stated that the meeting has been postponed due to a special reason. The next meeting of the parliament will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, according to the notice.

Earlier today afternoon, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara had adjourned the House session for fifteen minutes after the NC and RJP-N parliamentarians picketed the rostrum and chanted slogans against the government by rising from their seats.

The parliamentarians obstructed the parliament meeting after Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa delivered his remarks over three separate incidents including the death of Kumar Poudel, the Sarlahi in-charge of the outlawed Chand group.

While speaking at the parliament meeting, Home Minister Thapa claimed that Poudel was killed in retaliatory firing.
