The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has named executive member Aunp Thapa as the team manager on Thursday. [break]Coach Pubudu Dassanayake and physiotherapist Prayus Neupane are the other members picked under the three official quota provided by Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Coach Jagat Tamata had been working in the capacity of assistant coach after Nepal started preparations for the tournament.
Nepali coaches have opined that denying opportunities to coaches on the home turf would have negative impact on them. "Next one year is vital for Nepali cricket and denying opportunities would have a negative impact on the team as well as the coach," a coach said on condition of anonymity.
Ironically, CAN has decided to send its vice-president Tarini Bikram Shah as manager and Raman Siwakoti as technical analyst for the ICC World Cricket League Division-4 to be held after one-and-half months in Bermuda. CAN President Tanka Angbuhang will also accompany the team.
Meeting of main organizing committee
The meeting of ACC T20 Cup main organizing committee was held on Friday in the capital under chairmanship of Yuvaraj Lama, the member secretary of National Sports Council. The meeting was attended by ACC Development Manager Bandul Warnapura.
CAN General Secretary Ashoknath Pyakurel presented a budget of Rs 25.2 million for the event. Of the total budget CAN would have to manage nearly Rs 2.5 million through its own resources, Pyakurel said.
ACC Development Manager Warnapura is satisfied with Nepal´s preparation, CAN member Kiran Rana informed. Warnapura has completed the inspection of both venues -- TU ground and Pulchowk ground -- as well as the under-construction Mulpani ground.
