KATHMANDU, April 3: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged the government and political leaders to create an environment for presenting the federal education bill in parliament soon.

Addressing the inaugural session of the first National Conference of School Management Committee organized by the Community School Management Committee Federation here today,   Speaker Ghimire said although there has been big change in the political sector, there has not been a fundamental change in community schools’ education.

He clarified that he would play a role to forward the federal education bill once it is presented in parliament.

"Laws related to education should be implemented. You have to hold discussion as to why you have not got results of the investment made in the education sector," said Speaker Ghimire.

The constitution has guaranteed the rights of each citizen to basic education, he shared, adding although basic education is free, the provision has not been implemented.

Laying emphasis on the need for increasing the quality of education for economic, social and cultural reforms, the Speaker said there is still a situation in the country in which the general public is compelled to admit their children to private schools for their better education even after cutting other necessary expenses.

There is participation of school management committees of all 753 local levels across the country in the two-day conference.
