KATHMANDU, May 30: Discussions on the government’s annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the upcoming Fiscal Year (FY) are set to begin in the House of Representatives from next Tuesday. The Federal Parliament Secretariat on Friday released a work schedule up to June 29, stating that the budget discussions will start from Tuesday.
According to the schedule, during the first meeting on June 6, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel will respond to the questions raised during the discussion. The government will also present the Appropriation Bill and the Bill to Raise National Debt in the same meeting.

The secretariat is preparing to begin discussions on the Bills relating to the Appropriation Bill from June 9. From June 17, the respective ministers will respond to the questions raised during the ministry-wise discussions, and the Secretariat plans to pass the bill on June 19.
According to the schedule made public by the secretariat, the Finance Bill, the Bill to Raise National Debt, and the Loan and Guarantee Bill will also be presented in the House on June 19. After clause-wise discussions, the Parliament Secretariat is preparing to pass all the three bills on June 24.
In the meantime, the government is also preparing to forward the process of several bills on June 8. These include the Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts Related to Land, the Federal Civil Service Bill, the Alternative Financing Mobilization Bill, the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) (First Amendment) Bill, and the Children-Related (First Amendment) Bill.
According to the schedule, the HoR will meet for 19 days from June 3 (Jestha 20) to June 29 (Asar 15). The calendar was approved by the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee meeting called by Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire on Friday, with 10 sittings scheduled in Jestha (mid-May to mid-June) and nine in Asar (mid-June to mid-July).
