HoR meeting to be held behind schedule, efforts underway to end parliament deadlock

KATHMANDU, May 16: The meeting of the House of Representatives will be held behind schedule today. 


The meeting is going to be delayed than the slated time after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal requested Speaker Devraj Ghimire to postpone the meeting as initiatives were underway to forge consensus with the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, to remove the parliament deadlock, said Ghimire's Press Coordinator Shekhar Adhikari.

Earlier, today's HoR meeting was called for 11:00 AM. The NC has been obstructing the parliament proceedings, demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee for an impartial investigation into the cooperative fraud scam. 


The Prime Minister shared that an environment to allow Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to speak in today's meeting is being created.


Speaker Ghimire held discussions with the chief whips and whips of major political parties as well as with the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs at the federal parliament building, New Baneshwor, to end the deadlock.
