KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has announced that the meeting of the House of Representatives has been adjourned until 3 pm on Tuesday.

A meeting of the top leaders attended by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli at 4 pm did not reach a concrete agreement to resume the parliament business, so the parliament meeting was postponed till Tuesday.

The CPN-UML has been obstructing the parliament demanding that a parliamentary probe committee should be formed to investigate the recent gold smuggling scam.

The smuggled gold, which was cleared from the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office, was seized by the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) in the Sinamangal area on July 18. The DRI has been investigating the case related to revenue leakage under the leadership of the Prime Minister's Office.

Before Monday’s meeting, Speaker Devraj Ghimire held a meeting with PM Dahal, NC President Deuba and UML Chairman Oli to discuss ways to resolve the obstruction.
