DANG, Nov 5: Local farmers have killed honeybee worth Rs 1.8 million by spraying pesticides breaking a syndicate in beekeeping entrepreneurs.
Victims claimed the bees were killed because of a personal rivalry.
59 beehives of Bishnu Prasad Bhusal of Sharadpur, Bharatpur-9 and 16 beehives of Khemraj Neupane of Bharatpur-1 were been killed by using pesticides. Victims claimed that the bees were killed by spraying pesticides.

However, the identification of the person involved in killing the bees hasn’t been disclosed yet. 75 hives of dead bees were burned on Friday.
Bhusal said, “A large number of bees can’t die by any other reasons, so, it is sure that they were killed by using pesticides.”
He had been taking his bees to graze in Dang for about 15 years now. He had brought 200 hives of bees to graze to Dang.
“I have been grazing the bees in Dang for a long period, but there was an enormous loss this year,” said Neupane, adding that the bees died after pesticides was sprayed on them
According to Neupane , who hold a PhD degree in the study of bees and is currently a professor at Rampur Agriculture Campus, argued that the bees were killed by spraying pesticides..
A team of bee experts has already started investigation into the incident.
