Each home in the village can host two to eight tourists every day.[break]
Homestay has become an alternative source of income generation for the people in the village which falls in the famous Panchase region which borders Kaski, Parbat and Syangja districts.
“Tourists are showing a great liking to the homestay concept as it offers them an opportunity to understand our culture and tradition,” Rupesh Gurung, chairman of Homestay Management Committee.
“Handsome return from relatively low investment has made homestay concept very popular here.”
Local villagers have also started investing on infrastructures like building advanced bathrooms to better serve the tourists.
Tourists need to pay Rs 200 to Rs 300 per person per night to stay in local villagers´ house. This makes a good income for the villagers.
A year ago, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) had imparted training to local villagers on starting homestay business.
A part from accommodating tourists in their homes, local villagers are also getting opportunity to work as tourist guides.
