Home Ministry forms probe committee to investigate deaths in police detention

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: The Home Ministry has formed a team under the coordination of Joint Secretary Thaneshwor Gautam to probe on the deaths that occurred in police detention.

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: The Home Ministry has formed a probe team under the coordination of Joint Secretary Thaneshwor Gautam to probe on the deaths that occurred in police detention.

The team has been mandated to investigate into the deaths of detainees/inmates in detention and prisons and furnish suggestion for reforming prison management. The committee was formed in the wake of deaths of detainee at the detention of District Police Office, Sunsari on October 10, detention of Tikapur Area Police Office, Kailali on October 11, and District Jail, Parbat on October 12.


Meanwhile, the Ministry informed that it has initiated the process to provide relief amount to those injured, and the families of 32 persons killed in Mugu bus accident.
