Home Minister unaware of Education Minister's resignation

KATHMANDU, April 23: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak stated that he is unaware of Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai's resignation. He made this remark while speaking briefly to journalists on Wednesday.


He also clarified that there are no issues between the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML within the government. Regarding the resignation, he said, "The education minister has submitted her resignation. She has spoken with the Prime Minister. Only she can explain what was discussed and the reasons behind her resignation."

Home Minister Lekhak emphasized that the government is serious about addressing the demands of protesting teachers and is ready to fulfill any that can be met at this time.


He added, "The teachers' protest is ongoing. We are having serious discussions about it, and we had a conversation last evening. The government is prepared to address any demands that can be fulfilled right now."


He further mentioned that the government is working to address teachers' concerns by quickly passing the new education bill.


Lekhak also confirmed that the government is continuing talks with the protesting teachers, with further discussions planned for today.
