KATHMANDU, Dec 6: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has undergone heart surgery at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center in Bansbari on Tuesday night, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHP).
Minister Shrestha underwent successful angioplasty after being admitted to the hospital due to chest discomfort. The surgery was prompted by a partial blockage in the blood vessels of his heart.
Dr Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the MoHP, released a statement confirming that a medical team led by Arun Maskey performed the angioplasty surgery. Minister Shrestha is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha had a heart problem while he was on a visit to China last October, and a stent was placed.
