Himalayan Sherpa reaches final

UDAYAPUR, Feb 5: Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club thrashed Simrik Saraswati Club 3-0 on Tuesday to reach the final of Second Udayapur Gold Cup football tournament being held at the Triyuga Secondary School ground here.



Himalayan Sherpa scored all three goals in the second half of the match. Samuel Mubiru opened the scoring in the 75th minute and Hope Rally scored a brace in the dying minutes of the match. Rally scored his first goal in the 81st minute and added another in the 85th minute.[break]



Saraswati was limited to 10 men in the last minute of the match as referee Laba Khatri gave marching orders to Anil Thapa.



Himalayan Sherpa´s Mubiru was adjudged the man-of-the-match.



Saraswati missed a couple of scoring chances during the match. Saraswati coach Pradeep Nepal said the absence of foreign players in the team cost them dearly.

Himalayan Sherpa coach Megharaj KC said his team came up with an improved performance in the second half and sealed the victory. "We were confident about winning the match but had to toil hard to break the deadlock," said KC.



Martyrs Memorial League leader Three Star Club will take on Armed Police Force (APF) Club in the second semifinal of the tournament on Wednesday.



The tournament, which featured four A division clubs and four local teams from the eastern region, has been drawing huge crowds to the matches. Around 15,000 people watched the first semifinal match on Tuesday.
